SB 84 training set for opening day of Convention

The 2019 ASBSD-SASD Convention will feature a free training session for administrators on opioid antagonist administration.

Senate Bill 84 was passed this year by the legislature and signed by Gov. Kristi Noem and permits a school district to possess and, if needed, administer opioid antagonists. The bill was passed with an emergency clause, which made it law immediately.

ASBSD and SASD have been working with the Department of Health to develop parameters of the program and to provide an opportunity for an in-person training at Convention.

The training will be held in the Sioux Falls Convention Center’s Exhibit Hall on Thursday, August 8 at 3:00 p.m.

Administrators planning to attend the training DO NOT have to register for Convention, but must check in at the registration table to get a pass to be admitted to the training in the Exhibit Hall.

S.D. DOH is also planning to hold a webinar training in early September and will record it for future use, as well as creating additional training opportunities with local first responders. Additional guidance on the program will be provided as it becomes available.
